Is this a thing? Should this be a thing? What are your thoughts? I’m wondering if churches and leaders need to be better prepared to address mental health needs of their members. Should this be referred out or service brought into the church house?
Many people view the church as a place of healing but are we comfortable with utilizing resources in the church or reaching out to spiritual leaders?
I’d love to hear your thoughts as I explore resource development and ways the bridge the gap between faith and mental health.
Leave me a comment! I look forward to reading your thoughts!

Hi Jamie, here in the UK the Church of England has a pack of mental health resources https://www.churchofengland.org/resources/mental-health-resources and I’m sure other churches have something similar. I think it’s important for faith leaders to open up the conversation about mental health and to not be afraid to refer people for professional treatment. With OCD, I felt so ashamed about what I was experiencing, but I feel if churches were more open about mental health, they would be an ideal first environment to provide listening support and to refer on to specialist services/treatment, as church leaders are trusted individuals.
